Alliance with Folding Space Print E-mail

October, 2007

Oasis Medical Solutions (OMS) and Folding Space have signed a strategic alliance aimed at exploiting the potential for symbiotic indexing in the healthcare market. Symbiotic software is the concept underlying Folding Space’s technology. It enables users to find, identify, retrieve and manage all the folders and files on their network, including: programs, documents, emails, images, scans and records. They can also create, collaborate and route: files, forms and dynamic data, across their network via automated workflows and business processes.

The applications within healthcare for symbiotic software - in the shape of Folding Space’s Content Finder file and document search and retrieval software, and its Metadata Tagger and Scan Manager technologies - are many and varied. These range from finding the documents needed to respond to Freedom of Information requests, through to accessing the paper-based records and reports needed for informed clinical decision making. The technology can also help pathology laboratories to scan, tag and find request forms.

Announcing the alliance, Richard Moxon, Director of OMS said: “Adding the power of Folding Space’s symbiotic software technology to our own expertise in patient administration systems and electronic patient records software allows us to rapidly place even more information at the fingertips of healthcare professionals. Content Finder, Metadata Tagger and Scan Manager have already been well received by a number of trusts and we are confident that Folding Space’s technologies represent a powerful extension to our solution portfolio for the NHS and the private healthcare sector. ”

Geoffrey Smith, Founder of Folding Space, added: “We chose OMS as our partner because they share our strong commitment to technological innovation in IT. As they are a trusted and established player in the UK healthcare IT solutions market, we are confident they can help us grow the sales of our technology, and its application-specific derivatives, at a much faster rate.”

Symbiotic software – effectively, symbiotic indexing in combination with intelligent self-aware documents - removes the need to extract, re-format or convert documents or data. Using distributed computing, it searches original folders, files, database records and emails by activating symbiotes on every server and PC that needs to be involved in the process, without the need for a database and the associated licensing and maintenance costs. This process operates simultaneously on every data processing device connected to the network, irrespective of its size or location.
